Acne Prevention

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 1:25 pm

Acne is a non-lethal but very uncomfortable skin condition that mainly effects people aged between 12 and 24 but which can effect adults also. It is the most common skin affliction in the United States, it has strong psychological effects as it is highly visible and can cause permanent scarring.

Acne is most common among teenagers. It is caused when excess oil on the skin (which is ordinarily absorbed or let out of the pores) clogs the pores causing sores which are often called pimples, zits or spots. Teenagers often suffer from hormonal imbalance in the oil producing glands during puberty, this can cause too much oil to be produced leading to acne.

Unfortunately acne is most likely to occur on the face, where is very visible and often embarassing. However it also occurs on the neck, back, chest and shoulders.

It is not clear what combination of factors play role in developing acne and why some people never have it, while others seem "subscribed" to it. The main reason for acne is the increase in androgens (male sex hormones), which occurs naturally in both boys and girls during puberty. Pregnancy and contraception pills also affect hormones and can cause acne.

Hormones are not the only factor present in acne formation. Surpisingly, while not really inheritable, acne can be traced along hereditary lines. So a family history of acne can raise the chance of young people in that family contracting it at some point in their puberty. One good measure you can take to prevent acne is to ensure you keep clean. Uncleanliness can be a factor in acne development (although by no means is it the only factor). Humidity and pollution can lead to acne also by blocking pores.

On the other hand, there are many popular myths and delusions about what causes green teas. Acne does not occur as a result of stress, or of eating chocolate and greasy food. Also, acne is not an infectious disease, i.e. it cannot be transmitted by touch or through a sexual intercourse (like Chlamydia ~ which is also a skin disease but is transmitted sexually).

There is no real way to prevent acne — if it’s going to form, it will. Generally all one can do is take steps to stem its development. A visit to a dermatologist is crucial, they can prescribe a solution (which may or may not involve medication).

There are a few rules for coping with acne, firstly it is crucial to keep your face and indeed any areas afflicted by acne clean. It is also important not to squeeze the pimples that form. It may seem like this removes them, but it does not remove the cause of the acne and in fact it leaves the lesions open to infection.

Acne Medications

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 4:59 am

Acne is an annoying skin condition that affects people of every age, gender, and race. Few skin conditions are as bothersome and disturbing as acne. The scientific name for the condition is acne vulgaris because acne usually strikes in plainly visible locations such as the face, neck, chest and back. Acne is an age-old problem that has likely been plaguing people for centuries. But there are numerous treatment methods available for this bothersome condition. Read on to learn more about acne, and the herbal, homeopathic, and traditional medications used to treat it.

What is Acne?

Acne is an inflammation of the skin that can be caused by a number of factors. Contact with an oily substance such as mineral oil, vegetable oil, or petroleum is a common cause of acne, as is the use of certain medication, steroids, on the contraceptive pill. However, acne is most often cause by the secretion of androgens. Androgens are sex hormones that are initially secreted at the onset of puberty. They are male hormones but they are secreted by females as well. Androgens stimulate the production of oil from the skin’s oil glands. Acne occurs when these oil glands become overactive and the exit from the gland is blocked, causing the oil to build up in the gland and swell. A bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes normally colonizes this swollen gland causing the development of inflammation and pus. In particularly severe cases, the glands may burst into the skin and produce cysts.

Over ninety percent of acne patients respond to acne medication, although the treatment may need to be continued for months or even years. Here are a few of the common herbal, homeopathic, and traditional medications that can be used to treat acne.

Working On Cruise Ships

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 5:56 am

Many people who are stuck in their daily grind dream of adventure and fun. Many decide to go backpacking, from place to place. However their are many taking advantage of working for the many different cruise ship operators. Whilst backpacking usually entails staying in one spot and earning enough to move onto the next destination, working on cruise ships means you are getting paid to travel.

The impression that most people have of working on a cruise ship is that for the length of the contract (which is usually around 6 – 8 months) they live a life full of adventure, fun and allot of alcohol and sex. For the most part I can tell you that it is true. Life on a cruise ship is full of those things on a daily basis.

Being part of a cruise ship crew is an adventure where you sleep, eat and breathe the life of being on the seas. The advantages of being part of the crew is for the most part, you get free travel and get to go to some of the most exotic locations in the world and get paid for it, copious amounts of alcohol are consumed and is very cheap (as little as 1 dollar a drink), and you are travelling with allot of like minded individuals who more or less want the same thing fun and great times. Not to mention that there is a hell of allot of room swapping and sleep over’s with crew and passengers alike.

Another advantage of working on a cruise ship is that you are paid in cash and depending on what you are doing on the ship as part of your job you can return home at the end of a contract with quite a fair bit of money in your pocket. People who have been doing it for a number of years quite often have bought and paid off houses outright and if you choose to make a career out of it which quite a number of people do, well most cruise directors are often quite wealthy and live the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle.

It must be said that life on the seas is not for everyone and there are cases where people have signed on for a contract and have found themselves wanting to catch the next plane home. However, those that do stick it out and are more relaxed have the time of their lives. Not only do you get an adventure, but also you make friends with people all over the world and come home with enough memories to write a book. The other thing to remember is that life on a cruise ship can often be intense including the fun. Cruise ships often work 7 days a week and so you can find yourself having time off rather than whole days off, yet most find their work on a cruise ship a totally enjoyable experience that it is not that much of an issue.

Another important thing to remember when looking at which cruise company to work for is that different cruise companies allow their workers different privileges or freedom when working on their ships. For instance Disney as they are mostly a Christian Family values type company can be quite restrictive when allowing their crew to do certain things on the ship. For instance I believe that you must be a non-smoker to be employed by Disney and the consumption of alcohol by crewmembers might be very restrictive. As far as I’m aware, the cruise ship that allows the most freedom and privileges as well as the best pay rates for crewmembers are Princess Cruises.

If the money or the thrill adventure is enticing you to think about applying, make sure to think about it carefully before signing up. Things that must be taken into account is the fact that you will have initial expenses that include a full medical check up, sea safety training as well as travelling expenses to meet up with the cruise ship, after which this initial expense the company generally pays. You are signing up for a contract period of about 6 – 8 months that will mean you will be away from your family and friends. (Although most cruise ship companies offer very cheap deals for family members to visit). If it still sounds enticing and you decide to take on the experience then you will surely have an experience of a lifetime.

One thing you can be sure of contrary to popular belief, poor hygiene and food such as chocolate does not cause acne.

Severe cases of acne may cause pitted skin and scarring. If you have deep acne scars you may want to go for dermabrasion or dermaplaning to give your skin a smoother appearance. These can be used on small areas of the face.

There are a wide variety of products available for acne treatment anywhere from the mildest lotions to the severest prescriptive forms of treatment. A study comparing popular acne remedies recently discovered relatively inexpensive lotions are as effective as powerful prescription antibiotics.

You’ll find many pros and cons regarding all forms of treatment but few of the many treatments that have come about over the years have given any lasting effect. Some treatments have actually been very unhealthy and dangerous for the user.

Beautiful Parks in Falkirk

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 12:54 pm

Falkirk is a town situated in the centre of Scotland, not far from cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow. The population in Falkirk is 32 379. The tourist information centre in Falkirk is situated on Glebe Street, which is not far from Falkirk’s Grahamston Railway Station. Falkirk is an enjoyable town for many reasons. The main attraction in Falkirk is in the west end and is called the Falkirk Wheel. Falkirk is home to some lovely parks and gardens, which is why I enjoy visiting Falkirk. My favourite parks in Falkirk are:

Callendar Park – This beautiful place is over 170 acres. It is well known for the many daffodils in the spring time. Throughout most of the year Callendar Park is blooming with flowers. Callendar Park has so much to do for all the family; there are plenty of activities to choose from. These include, a play area which has a bouncy castle, a huge slide, a golf course, crazy golf, a lake which can be used for boating, and electric cars. As well as all of these activities, there is also a big area of grass for picnics. This park is a nice place to walk. During the summer, there are a variety of events held in the park, as well as concerts. From the centre of Falkirk, it only takes 5 minutes to get to Callendar Park. In the park there is also a kiosk which sells a variety of snacks.

Dollar Park – This is a lovely place to enjoy a stroll, alone or with a pet. Dollar Park is peaceful and has gorgeous displays of shrubs. This park is not far from the Falkirk town centre, it’s only five minutes away. Dollar Park is open throughout the whole year and has a kid’s play area which has as bouncy castle.

Muiravonside Country Park- This Country Park is quite big, and is 170 acres. Muiravonside has so much to do, especially for the children. There is horse riding, a play area and plenty of area for long walks. In the park there is also lots of wildlife, flowers and trees to see. The park is open throughout the year. Also in the park, you will find a Ranger Service, in which there are, people to guide you around the park.

Bantaskine Estate – This park is fantastic for both long walks and short strolls. It is very peaceful and enjoyable. Bantaskine Estate is a really pleasant park. You can walk along the Union Canal banks or stroll through the woodlands. In 1746 the battle of Falkirk took place in the area of Bantaskine Estate. This battle was one by the Jacobites.

These very nice parks in Falkirk are great for a day out; I highly recommend each of them. Public transport around each park is quite good. I love visiting Falkirk, just to see the parks and to have a memorable day with my family. I find that Falkirk is very unique and each park has something special. There’s never time to get bored when visiting Falkirk.

Acne Advice For People Wanting Blemish Free Skin

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 4:46 am

Acne is a disorder of the skin that affects adults as well as teens. It occurs when follicles, or pores, become blocked. Oils, naturally present in skin, are unable to drain and become blocked inside the follicles. Before long bacteria begins to grow.

Skin blemishes referred to as blackheads and whiteheads then begin to appear. When the oil and bacteria that is trapped remain below the skin, the blemish is referred to as a whitehead. A blackhead occurs when the oil and bacteria are partially exposed. The color of the blemish turns black due to pigmentation within the skin. Blackheads usually last far longer than whiteheads due to the fact that it takes longer to drain.

It is believed that hormones, diet, stress and vitamin deficiency may play a role in the development of acne. While acne includes both whiteheads and blackheads, there are a variety of types of acne that range in severity.

Acne Vulgaris is the most common form of acne and includes everything from whiteheads and blackheads to cysts. Acne Vulgaris may be either mild or moderate as well as severe. The mild and moderate forms of Acne Vulgaris include common pimples with inflammation apparent below the surface of the skin as well as blackheads. Small red bumps that have no ?head? may also be present and are known as papules.

Acne Vulgaris in its most severe form includes lesions that are known as nodules and cysts. These are normally much larger than mild or moderate acne and may be more painful. Nodules are usually small and hard, below the skin and do not contain pus while cysts do. Scars can appear if Acne Vulgaris is not treated correctly.

The Art of Insulin Injections

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 4:21 am

The term injection drives shivers up and down a person’s body as a mental picture of elongated razor-sharp needles dance within the minds- eye. Nevertheless, it can turn out to not be as terrifying and a great deal more comfortable the more practiced you turn out to be with how to properly inject insulin.

The most universal way to inject insulin is with a syringe and needle (although there is an insulin pen out on the market now). You draw insulin out of a bottle and into a syringe; then inject the medication beneath your skin where it’s absorbed into your bloodstream.

Insulin may be introduced into quite a lot of areas of your body where there is a build-up of fatty tissue available and where large blood vessels, nerves, muscles and bones are not too close to the exterior.

Insulin is best introduced into the tummy owing to hurried and dependable absorption. Steer clear of the two inch band around the navel, which will not absorb as well. Alternate each shot as depicted in the diagram. Your doctor may propose various areas for shots, like the back of your upper arms, thighs or buttocks.

Several of the sterile practices that health care professionals used to recommend for insulin injections have been effectively proven as needless. Diabetics have been observed for a long time injecting their insulin through their clothes. A study was developed to establish the safety and professed benefits of giving insulin injections in this manner. The participants injected through a single layer of fabric, which varied from nylon to denim. None of the subjects experienced erythema, induration, or abscess at injection locations. Neither the glycated hemoglobin levels nor the leukocyte counts varied between the conventional and experimental programs. In the injection-through-clothing phase of the study, only trivial problems, such as blood stains on clothing and bruising, possibly due to the slight extra force needed to get the needle through the layer of cloth, were documented. The test subjects stated that injection through their clothing offered benefits such as ease and saving time. It was concluded that it is safe to inject insulin through ones clothing.

The term given to injecting insulin through inserting syringe into the skin is known as ‘insulin injection technique’. This is done in order to inject a proper dose of insulin into the patients’ body. For the purpose of making insulin injection treatment a success for yourself, your physician or a member of their team can assist you in learning this technique.

Injecting at the accurate deepness is a very important part of a good injection technique. The majority of doctors will advise that insulin be introduced in the subcutaneous fat, (the deposit of fat just underneath the skin).

Instead, injecting insulin too deep may also be harmful as it can then enter the muscles where it gets absorbed more quickly. However, insulin in muscles may not remain in the body for a long time as injecting insulin in the muscle will also hurt. The insulin just enters the skin when it is not injected too deep. All this affects the time period for which insulin is present in the body.

To get the proper depth most people will pinch up a fold of skin and insert the needle at a 90 angle to the skin fold. If you are injecting into an area that does not contain a lot of fat tissue, you may need to adjust the angle to 45 for comfort.

Follow your doctor’s recommendation for taking insulin. Injecting insulin yourself does not have to be tough. Get in touch with your physician, their aide or nurse, if you are unsure concerning your insulin treatment program. Becoming comfortable with giving yourself shots and staying away from commonplace troubles, insulin injections will become part of your routine that aids you in keeping on top of things concerning your diabetes.

Fannie and Freddie Mac Programs Help Struggling Homeowners

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 7:51 pm

In March of this year, the Obama Administration authorized a new federal program to help stabilize the housing industry. The feds poured a mere $75 billion into the Making Home Affordable (MHA) mortgage program intended to avert further foreclosures, assist responsible home owners in retaining their homes and stabilize the nation’s communities.

Home Affordable Refinancing Program (HARP) and Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) are the two initiatives under the umbrella of the MHA that are being used to distribute the funding for the program. The programs fall under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secondary mortgage market lenders, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Through the MHA programs, certain homeowners are provided assistance whose loans are either owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Over the following three years, the program is on target to assist three to four million homeowners. Currently, over 230,000 trial modifications have been started; although, over 500,000 is the goal to have in process by November 1, 2009. What’s interesting is that more than 85 percent of mortgage loans out there today are covered by participating service providers.

HARP assists homeowners who are current on their mortgage payments, but are not able to refinance their loans due to a decrease in their home’s market value. Homeowners may be afforded the opportunity to refinance their mortgage to a lower interest rate and to a lower-risk loan solution, both of which are part of the program.

General requirements to be eligible for HARP are as follows:

* Must be the owner of a one- to four-unit home

* Mortgage must be owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac

* Must be current on mortgage payments throughout the previous 12 months, which means that you’ve not been more than 30 days late on any mortgage payment within the previous year

* Amount due on your first mortgage is not more than 125 percent of the current market value of your home

HAMP offers options for homeowners that may potentially reduce their monthly mortgage payments, or provide other alternatives that can assist them in keeping their homes. The program helps homeowners who are in the following situations with their mortgage:

* Current, but have experienced recent significant hardship, including hardship that will inhibit their ability to pay mortgage payments going forward

* Delinquent on their mortgage payments

* Currently in the foreclosure process

For full details regarding the MHA, visit the MHA website.

Both sites offer a self-service lookup tool that tells you whether your home loan is owned by either. To find out more about the Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac MHA programs, or to see if your home loan is owned by either, see the information below:
